How to Trim A Candle Wick

One of the most important steps in candle maintenance is trimming the wick.

Before lighting your candle, it's important to trim the wick to a quarter inch. This will prevent the flame from becoming too large and causing soot to form on the candle or the surrounding area. If you notice the flame becoming larger than it should be, or if you see black soot forming on the candle, it's time to trim the wick.

Trimming the wick is easy to do and only requires a few tools. You will need a pair of scissors or wick trimmers, and a candle snuffer or a damp paper towel.

Step 1: Extinguish the candle by blowing it out or using a candle snuffer.

Step 2: Allow the candle to cool down and the wax to solidify.

Step 3: Locate the wick and use your scissors or wick trimmers to trim the wick to a quarter inch.

Step 4: Light the candle again and enjoy!

It's important to keep in mind that the wick should be trimmed every time before relighting the candle. Not only will this help the candle burn more evenly, but it will also prevent the formation of soot and ensure a cleaner and safer burning experience.
